1 Peter 3:15
15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect
This scripture is profoundly powerful. It starts off with “in your hearts revere Christ as Lord.” Synonyms for revere are admire, respect, and worship. So another way to say it is, in our hearts we should worship Christ as Lord every single day. That is a worthy task in and of itself and we are only 7 words into the scripture! It is really easy to become disconnected from Christ due to the business of life. We need to make sure we stay focused and develop our relationship with Christ every single day.
The second part of this scripture focuses on the strength of our relationship with Christ. It is a natural tendency to tell people what we are excited about. There are plenty of conversations about sports, politics, etc. How many conversations do you have about Jesus each day? How many people do you tell about what Jesus has done in your life? Are you still excited about what Jesus is doing in your life?
Our relationship with Christ is the most important relationship we have. If you don’t like the answers you gave to the three questions above, don’t be discouraged. We can work on changing our answers but we must start today. Tomorrow is not promised, so tomorrow could be too late! Start today by praying and asking God to help develop the relationship you have with Him.
